GOLF OVERVIEW

Established in 1994, Grayhawk Golf Club features two par-72 golf courses – Talon and Raptor – engineered with their own distinctive personalities. Talon offers a desert-style test of golf that skirts thick stands of Sonoran Desert and box canyons on the way to large multi-tiered greens. Raptor delivers more traditional challenges clearly laid out come-and-get-it style with generous fairways and deep greenside bunkers guarding crowned greens. Both of the highly acclaimed layouts at Grayhawk Golf Club are widely considered to be among the best golf courses in Scottsdale.

Talon Course

Designed by 1981 U.S. Open and 1979 PGA Champion, David Graham, and golf course architect Gary Panks, Grayhawk’s Talon course is one of the most exciting and dramatic tests of Sonoran Desert golf in the Southwest.

The 6,973-yard layout one of the highest rated public, daily-fee golf courses in Arizona, and has been included on Golf Magazine’s prestigious list of the “Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S.” Talon has hosted numerous high-profile golf events including the semi-finals and finals of the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf; pro ams for the Waste Management Phoenix Open; the Heather Farr Trophy Matches and the Fiesta Bowl Golf Classic.

Raptor Course

The Tom Fazio-designed Raptor course offers thrilling challenges that command players’ respect through a high-stakes game of risk and reward. Stretching 7,151 yards from the back tees, the par-72 course unfolds over the gentle hills and across shaded natural arroyos found in this picturesque corner of the Sonoran Desert.

Most of Raptor’s fairways are generous, and the greens are large with sweeping undulations. Misses tend to find deep greenside bunkers and grass collection areas, making the scramble to get up and down a true test of the short game.

Grayhawk is much more than a place to play; it offers all of the services and amenities that naturally accompany the game of golf. To take it all in, plan on carving out time to, for example, warm up on the rock ‘n’ roll range where classic rock tunes are piped-in to get the motor running. Full service men’s and women’s locker rooms are available to gear up before golf as well as clean up after. Grab a breakfast sandwich and hot cup of coffee at The Morning Joint before those dew-sweeper rounds. Count them up and settle up over ice-cold beers and prime rib sliders in Phil’s Grill. And don’t forget to pick up a Grayhawk golf shirt in the Golf Shop & Trading Company.
