Continental Golf Course – “Best Inexpensive Golf Course”

With so many golf options in and around Scottsdale, Continental Golf Course may not be on your list of must-play courses – but it should be.

Conveniently located in Old Town Scottsdale just minutes from Scottsdale Fashion Square, Phoenix Zoo, Scottsdale Stadium, and ASU campus, Continental first opened for play in December of 1978 and over the past 40 years has established itself as the area’s go-to destination for a fun, fast, and affordable golf experience.

Named by the Arizona Republic as Scottsdale’s “Best Inexpensive Golf Course” and by the Phoenix New Times as the “Best Late Afternoon Golf Getaway,” Continental Golf Course’s par-60 executive layout offers golfers the perfect combination of challenge and playability.

The beautiful Greg Nash/Jeff Harbin design features parkland-style fairways and well-maintained greens framed by mature trees and picturesque water features.  The 18-hole layout offers six par fours and 12 par threes that require golfers use every club in the bag.  Multiple tees on each hole enable players of all ages and abilities an opportunity to enjoy this favorite locals spot.

Golfers have the option of choosing from traditional golf carts to travel around the course or cruising the links on Continental’s Phat Golf Scooters.  These 2-wheeled electric golf scooters are changing the way golf is played.  Just strap your golf bag on the back, stock the beverage cooler, and take off.  Riding down Continental’s lush fairways on a scooter and sipping on your favorite beverage is a great way to spend the afternoon.  The scooters offer more freedom than traditional golf carts and definitely help to make your visit to Continental a round of golf to remember.

Ever want to play golf at night?  Known as the “Night Golf Capital of Phoenix,” Continental hosts over thirty night-golf events each year with public night golf each month.  When you combine glow balls, neon-lined fairways and lighted holes with a lively crowd, great drinks and delicious food, it’s hard not to have a good time!

If you are looking to work on your swing, the course is complemented by a driving range and short game area that offers golfers the ability to hone their full swing and sharpen their short game.  Range baskets cost between $5 and $11 or you can choose one of Continental’s affordable membership options.  The Arcis Players’ Club and Arcis Players’ Prime memberships start at $39 per month and offer unlimited range access, free weekly golf clinics, and drastically discounted golf rates.  Depending on how much you plan to play or practice, Continental has an affordable program that’s right for you.

When hunger calls, stop by Continental’s Dogleg Café and enjoy selections from a complete breakfast and lunch menu.  Locals frequent the café even when they’re not teeing it up to enjoy the fan favorite “CrushBurger” with fresh cut french fries and the full bar.  Pull up a spot in the dining room or enjoy ping pong on the patio, the Dogleg Café’s relaxed atmosphere and friendly service are a hit with golfers and non-golfers alike.

As far as Arizona golf goes, Continental Golf Course is a one-of-a-kind trip to the links.  By combining a fun and relaxed golf experience with better than par food, a great drink selection, and unique experiences like night golf and Phat Scooters, it’s easy to see why the course has been an Old Town favorite for the past 40 years.  Whether you are new to the game or a diehard golfer, no visit to Scottsdale is complete without a round of golf at Continental.
