This must-see attraction features regularly changing exhibits of Western art, Old West artifacts and historic Native American objects on loan from some of the world’s foremost collectors and institutions. Its entertaining events and informative programs bring the nation’s Western heritage to life in a stunning, contemporary setting that meets the highest standards for sustainability and conservation of natural resources.

In addition to being a TripAdvisor highly rated attraction, the museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2015 and was named 2016 and 2017 “Best Western Museum” in the nation by the editors of True West magazine.

Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is located one block west of Scottsdale Road at 1st Street, within easy walking distance of numerous art galleries, stores, and restaurants. Nearby attractions include Old Town, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Scottsdale Stadium (Cactus League Spring Training home of the San Francisco Giants baseball team), the Scottsdale Waterfront, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.

The 43,000-square-foot museum, which opened in January 2015, is owned by the City of Scottsdale. Scottsdale Museum of the West, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that relies upon private support to fund the museum’s operation, is the managing operator.
